I wanted to read what Mr.Mohan Dharia and Mr.Chandra Sekahar were saying during those autocratic days of Mrs.Gandhi during 70's. They were called Young Turks. I had great admiration for defying Mrs.Gandhi when all the Congress party members were acting as servants of Nehru family.I was checking Daily mail of London today and ready about his death after long illness. I am sad that he passed away.

Vadodara artist-freedom of expression

Chandra Mohan an art student of MS University,Vaodara, India was jailed for 5 days for his paintings, depicting Hindu Goddess ' Durga' in nude with a full grown human male emerging out of her sexual organs, and another depicting Jesus Christ in sexual manner. There is a big hue and cry about artistic freedom in India, and among MSU alumni across the world. There were demonstrations condemning the Gujarati Government and the university authorities.The question now is whether artists have absolute freedom to paint anything they want. I think they do not. Freedom of expression is not absolute.There are many restrictions ,more so in India, than anywhere else. Could Mr.Chandra Mohan have painted sexually explicit manner one of his close female family members? What is artistic about a sexually explicit painting of a Goddess hurting so many people? What was his motive in insulting so many people with that painting? Can't he use his artistic skills to paint anything better? He does not have absolute freedom in the name of art,and he deserved what he got.

War and Democrat Party

Iraqi war is an unnecessary war and we should not have been there in the first place. We lost more than 3000 of our courageous young men and women. We spent more than 400 billion dollars that we could have used in our country.Thousands of Innocent Iraqi people died. Iraq is a mess now. We created that mess. We have to fix it. Who else? Whose responsibility? It was president Bush's fault,but as a country ,we can not wash our hands off and run away. What would happen if we leave now? Democrat party wants to play politics with war for political advantage.They exploited during the mid term elections and would keep on doing until presidential elections. They do not think about terrorism,Iraqi people and American soldiers that are there. They talk about mandate. What happened to all those Americans that overwhelmingly supported the war in the beginning?When it gets tough, do we run way from the war. What are the leaders for if they just follow the changing public opinion polls. Now there is no alternative but to stay and win the war. If we leave ,Iraq would be worse than Cambodia after Vietnam.Sunnis and Shias kill each other and Iraq would become worse than Afghanistan with Taliban.Democrat party again has become a cut and run away party. It is dishonest. Their prescription is very dangerous for our country.
